L'Exposition - Romain Louvel
With the contributions of artists Paloma Fernández-Sobrino, Richard Louvet / graphic designers of L'Atelier du Bourg and social science researchers Thierry Deshayes, Pierre Grosdemouge and Pascal Nicolas-Le Strat.
With L'Exposition, Romain Louvel takes possession of La Criée to challenge and in some cases subvert cultural mediation and museography practices…
Romain Louvel has been using both his art and his research to explore the relationships between art and social reality. His approach uses systems of artistic infiltration and disturbance of everyday routine in terms of public space, language and forms of social behaviour. Experimenting with «social art practices», he sees art as «a tool for triggering debate and bringing to light the invisible elements that structure our social relationships.»
Romain Louvel created an installation which questions the cultural mediation and museumizing principles and techniques from a collection of objects constituted during the 'Expeditions' residencies which involved artists, sociologists, street educators, families and children in Rennes’ Maurepas neighbourhood in March 2012.
Partners: the âge de la Tortue community association (Rennes), the local GRPAS social activities group and Le Commun social science collective (Montpellier).
